THE GAVELDoug Keyes & Ellen Ostrum |
September 2010
As you are reading this, most of us are “tuning up” for the new dance year.
Even as I am ending my second and final term as President of the State Federation I have other duties that are my responsibility for the upcoming year. I feel that this is good because an idle mind either gets in trouble or ceases working all together.
Ellen and I have greatly enjoyed serving you as the President couple for the last two years. We’ve had the opportunity to meet many dancers all over the state and thank all of you for your cordial welcome when we visited your Club, Council, or in a couple of cases our neighboring Federations in Oregon and British Columbia.
I had the pleasure of an outstanding board to assist me the last two years and I thank each of you publicly for your support and trust. I feel that together we served the membership of our organization with positive results. Ellen and I wish each of you the best in the future.
To all the people that consented to serve as Committee Chairmen over the last two years, thank you for your dedication to the task. Your efforts keep the wheels turning in many areas of our activity and provide a worry free environment for the states dancers. I feel that it is our task at this level to handle the nuts and bolts of our activity so that all of the other participants may enjoy the pleasures offered. Again, Ellen and I wish each of you the best in the years ahead.
A s we gear up for the Convention in 2012 I ask that everyone support that effort while stepping up to the duties in their local Club, Council and State. All of these organizations will be here in 2013 and will need to be as strong as our support can make them.
Again, thank you from Ellen and myself.
We’ll see you in a square or around,
Doug & Ellen
