Summer Means Festivals!

Heartfelt congratulations go out to our newly elected State Officers: President, Doug Keyes; Vice President, Margaret (Kris) Kiser; Recording Secretary, Tom (Faye) Tomlinson; Corresponding Secretary, Kathy (Frank) Chase; and Treasurer, Margaret Miller. Thanks to all the exceptional candidates who agreed to run for office.

Don & Cheryl Pruitt and Roy & Janet Bellcoff, along with Shannon Shannon and Kelsey Soukup, have put a lot of time and energy into making the National Convention® bid presentation a huge success. We look forward to coming home from Wichita with the bid.

We hope all of our dancing friends are able to take time for summer campouts, picnics or other family gatherings. Our family has planned a reunion in August, with over 120 registered thus far. It should be a fun time to visit, enjoy nature, play games, fish and pick blueberries. With gas and grocery prices skyrocketing this year, we are very thankful for a large garden space. We’ll spend many of our summer hours weeding the garden and then canning or freezing the bounty.  Speaking of bounty – remember a couple months ago we gave the opportunity for a guess? All three calves were born by the first of March –it’s really fun watching them bounce around the hill!  You really would think they had trampolines, but that’s just how they rejoice in life.

Judy and I look forward to visiting with many of you this summer as we take in some of the many wonderful events planned for our dancing pleasure. We’ll be attending State Festival in Longview and National Convention in Wichita in June, Seminar in July, the Salmon Barbecue in August, and hopefully other festivals throughout the summer.

As Memorial Day weekend passed by, it gave us the opportunity to reflect on our ancestors and the legacy they left behind. We are blessed because of our heritage. As you celebrate the 4th of July, be grateful for those who gave so much that we may enjoy a life of freedom.

Keep dancing this summer and enjoy all the new and gold friends in this wonderful activity!

Happy Father’s Day, Dad!
