Leadership Seminar News

September 2008

WOW!  Wasn’t that a wonderful Leadership Seminar?  Where else can you go and have a full weekend of dancing and fun for that low price?

Thursday night was filled with games and fun.  Also many enjoyed eating fresh crab brought over by one of the dancers.  And then there was the water fight!  Ask Pat Wiggins what she thought about that??

Friday morning a group of dancers enjoyed playing golf while other dancers went looking at Antiques.  Still others enjoyed free time in Wenatchee and Leavenworth.

Friday night we square danced to our very talented state callers including Gaven Seim, Dave Boggs, Ed Evans, Orin Gaskill, Eddy Harry, Mark Sebree, Don Wiggins, Bill Reid, and Don Congrove to name a few.  We also round danced to our very talented cuers including Pat Wiggins, Sharon Boggs, Ron Woolcock, Genie Parrill, Lorna Hayden, and Noelle Miller just to name a few. Tom Tomlinson and Neva Reid were spectacular as MC’s for the evening.

Did you see the after party on Friday night? Jim Burnside got a pie in his face and all over his shirt?

Saturday brought three great speakers on interesting topics.  Su Evans gave a presentation on “Meeting Magic” and distributed a very informative handout.  Parliamentary Procedure is a topic that every officer and member of the club could (should) use. “Where do we go from here?”  Don Pruitt gave an outstanding update on the 2012 National Square Dance Convention’s bid and acceptance.  People had many questions which Don answered with much knowledge.

The session on “How to fill your dance halls AGAIN” presented some tried and true ways to fill your dance halls again and some new and exciting ideas to try as well.

Many dancers enjoyed the afternoon square and round dance workshops along with some free time.

And what about Saturday night’s event?  Wasn’t that a great dance?  Doug Davis called and Neva Reid cued a fantastic dance.  We had more fun at the Saturday night after party along with some good ice cream bars. (The ice cream bars were available all weekend.)

The Seminar Committee deserves a big thank you for that scrumptious breakfast on Sunday morning before the Keynote Address by Doug Davis.

And speaking of that Keynote Address – what did you think of it?  I thought it was it was great – informative and interesting.

The final attendance was 148 with 11 walk-ins, Friday and Saturday nights.

And we have a very good start on the 2009 Leadership Seminar with 47 registered so far.

The Seminar Committee does listen to what the dancers who attended the Seminar have to say and we thank you for filling out the Critique sheets.  We are addressing your comments.

Don’t forget that when sending in your registrations for next year Seminar at Circle 8 Ranch to use Jim Burnside’s complete nine (9) digit zip code for the mail.  It is 98205-1786.

See you next month and we will discuss some of your comments from this year.
